One shop, hiring slowly.
Levoke is a clothing store on Gandhi Chowk in Gidderbaha, Punjab. There is no head office and no department to be assigned to · there is a counter, a stockroom, and the people who run both. When we take someone on, it is because the shop genuinely cannot cover the work, and we keep them for years.

We would rather say that than leave a stale listing up for months. It does change · stock seasons and festivals bring extra work, and someone moves on eventually. If the work below sounds like yours, write to us anyway. We keep the messages, and we go back to them first when something opens.
Four kinds of job, and most people do two of them.
Shop floor
Opening up, keeping the rail in order, and helping whoever walks in find their size. Most of the job is knowing the stock well enough to say honestly that we do not have it.
Alterations
Hems, sleeves, taking in a waist. A customer who leaves with a shirt that fits comes back; one who leaves with a shirt that nearly fits does not.
Packing and dispatch
Online orders are picked, checked against the invoice, folded properly and handed to the courier the same day or the next. Careful beats fast here.
Photography and listings
Every photograph on this site was shot in the shop. New stock needs shooting, cutting out, and writing up honestly · including the parts a customer would want to know.
Short list, held to.
- You turn up, on the days you said you would.
- You are straight with customers. Talking someone into the wrong size costs us more than the sale is worth.
- You handle stock carefully. Everything on the rail is unsold until it is paid for.
- You can hold a conversation in Punjabi or Hindi. English helps for online orders and is not essential.
- You are willing to learn a part of the shop you have not done before.
No degree is asked for and no prior retail experience is required. Two of the jobs above are best learned on the floor anyway.
Told straight.
- Hours
- The shop runs 9 AM to 9 PM, every day. Shifts and a weekly day off are worked out between us.
- Pay
- Discussed in person and paid on time. It depends on the work and on experience, and we would rather agree it face to face than post a range we cannot keep.
- On the rail
- Staff buy at a discount, and you get first look at new stock before it reaches the floor.
- What you learn
- A small shop means you end up doing everything: selling, buying, photographing, packing, and dealing with a courier who has lost a parcel. That is the whole business, from one counter.
Write to us, or just come in and ask.
There is no form and no portal. Send a message with your name, where you are from, what work you have done, and when you could start. A CV is welcome and not required · a few honest lines are enough to start a conversation.
We read everything and we reply, including to say no. If you would rather do it in person, the shop is open 9 AM to 9 PM, every day.
